The kick-off meeting and pool sessions will be in Espoo. The open water sessions will be in Kirkkonummi or Siuntio. Addresses to be communicated by the instructor upon registration and in the kick-off meeting. The course fee is 180€. The default course language will be English. Additional instructions in Finnish can be provided upon request. 

The CMAS Dry Suit Diver course will provide the knowledge, skill and experience that the student:

• Knows the different dry suit types and materials available with their pros and cons.

• Knows selecting the dry suit considering intended diving conditions (e.g. temperature).

• Knows the parts of the dry suit and the materials used for collars, wrist cuffs, hoods, gloves, shoes, zippers, and valves. Knows the pros and cons of different parts.

• Knows how to put on and take off a dry suit appropriately, depending on the model.

• Know the criteria affecting the size selection of a dry suit.

• Knows how to put on and take off collar and wrist cuffs in an appropriate way and knows criteria affecting size selection.

• Knows the various model options and operating principles of suit filling and draining valves. Can operate both valves smoothly.

• Knows the different underwear options and knows how to choose them according to the circumstances.

• Knows the different shoe part options of a diving suit and knows the appropriate types of flippers.

• Knows the options suitable for the circumstances and knows how to dress appropriately, regarding the head, hands, and feet protection.

• Knows appropriate weighting and placement of weights.

• Controls buoyancy and trim using a dry suit.

• Can act correctly in problem situations typical of a dry suit, such as

o Legs up situation (too much air in the legs). o The filling button remains open. o The filling button does not fill. o Leak from drain valve. o The drain valve does not open. o The filling valve does not close completely, but fills slowly. o End or interruption of air supply to the filling valve. o Leaky suit. o Losing weights.

• Knows how to perform user maintenance on a dry suit, including zippers, cuffs, and valves with special attention to the functioning condition of the valves.

• Knows how to store a dry suit for a short time and how to store it for a long time.

The CMAS Dry Suit Diver course does not provide additional skills in terms of the depth or other demands of the dives. A CMAS Dry Suit Diver can use a dry suit on dives for which he has separately completed appropriate courses.

The participant of the CMAS Dry Suit Diver course must be at least 14 years old. There is no upper age limit. They must 
• be member of Sukeltajaliitto via a club or by directly, or they are registered via a community member.
• have completyed CMAS One Star Diver training, or equivalent (ISO 24801-2).
• be medically fit to dive confirmed by self-assessment using the UHMS-form or by medical certificate.
• have a written permission from the guardian, if the student is underage.
